WHAT REIKI IS AND IS NOT:  Reiki is not a massage. It is a fully clothed dispersement of the Healing Universal Life Force Energy that is called upon and flows through the trained Reiki Practitioner and is administered by the "laying on of hands" to the person, animal, place, or object. It is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Reiki was founded and discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Buddhist scholar, who was searching for a way to heal people in the early 1900's.  It may involve light touch or no touch at all. It is not a religion.  It is the Pure Love and Light from the Creator that is in everything that has Life. It has no bounds of time or space and it can be sent at a distance to other places anywhere it is asked to go in order to help, guide, or facilitate healing and wholeness to the recipient. Reiki can never be used in a negative way for dark purposes because that is not its Nature, as Light always overshadows the dark. This is a Spiritual Law, therefore, it is just simply not possible to use Reiki for anything else but good. However, I do recommend that you choose your Reiki Master wisely just as you would choose a therapist, counselor, doctor, dentist, or anyone else. Your Reiki Master, or anyone in your life for that matter, should always have the best intent for you and your highest good. You should feel comfortable with your Reiki Master and use your own judgment about being guided by them and decide for yourself what is right for you. There are different levels to Reiki which are Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and Reiki Master, which is the Highest Level. In order to use the title of Reiki Practitioner or Reiki Master, you must be given Reiki by a certified Reiki Master who teaches Reiki. This blessing and honor is called an "Attunement." Anyone who has not studied and has not been given this Attunement by another Reiki Master simply does not have Reiki. Reiki Masters may practice other healing arts as well in addition to Reiki or may have studied different types of Reiki such as Karuna Reiki or may have been taught different Reiki styles. Reiki Practitioners and Masters use Reiki on themselves anytime they want to and every time they use Reiki on others, they are also simultaneously receiving Reiki. There are many wonderful Reiki Practitioners and Reiki Masters in the World. It is said that a true Reiki Master is not one that has Mastered Reiki, but one that Reiki has Mastered.
